Of the 200,000 working farms operating in the UK, only 6% are dairy, specialist pigs and poultry farms. Livestock farms are highly favourable for investors, predominantly for the income generated from high demand for meat. These farms also regenerate the soil through aeration and fertilisation, offering better quality crop production when moved to agricultural fields.

In the British agricultural industry, livestock farms are in the minority, with only 12,000 established, mostly in rural locations. Returns can be high, both directly and indirectly. Meat, dairy, egg and wool production offer the most merits. Other ways to generate income include licensing the land for recreational use, like petting zoos and egg picking, or renting the livestock to local farmers for land fertilisation.
