The historic village of Balquhidder is famous as the resting place for Scotland's Outlaw King- Rob Roy MacGregor and enjoys an enviable position approximately 10 miles from Callander and easily accessible from Perth, Stirling, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The land includes fishing rights for the plentiful trout in the beautifully meandering River Balvaig.

The Balvaig River is a short river- approximately 5 miles long and forms part of the popular 3 rivers and 2 lochs route- enjoyed by paddle boarders and canoeists.

This land is offered without planning permission and all future development is, of course, subject to necessary consents. Braveheart Auctions can offer no advice on planning.

The auctioneer has been advised that the land may be susceptible to seasonal overbrim due to the location on the banks on Loch Voil. The land is unlikely to be suitable for permanent development.

The kirkton or village of Balquhidder lies at the head of Loch Voil, south west of Lochearnhead and west of Strathyre.

The lochs, river, and glens around Balquhidder are steeped in history and closely association with the MacGregors, especially the famous outlaw Rob Roy MacGregor. The village attracts many visitors from around the world who come to see the final resting place of Rob Roy, in Balquhidder Kirkyard alongside his wife and two sons.

Balquhidder is also a popular place for walking with many scenic routes, such as the Rob Roy walking trail, Kirkton Pass, and Balquhidder Glen. There are also a number of paths that lead out into the surrounding mountains including Stob Binnein 3,822 ft (1165 m) and Ben More 3,851 ft (1174 m).

In the village there are the remains of a number of pre-historic sites including a stone circle, the Pudreag Stone, and a Neolithic burial chamber cairn to the east.
