Volunteer Inn
Description
LOCATION
The Volunteer Inn is set amongst a relatively high density of chimney pots in Victoria Street, close to Ventnor´s town centre. There are several nearby Council operated car parks and roadside car parking directly outside the pub. Considerable investment in the town includes a Tesco Express in the High Street, and it has seen much development following the creation of a small harbour on the picturesque Esplanade.
The immediate population of around 6,000 residents is substantially boosted by visitors, especially during the extending summer season, wishing to take part in the many Music and Arts events for which the town is now famous, and to enjoy the wide variety of high-class eateries Ventnor can now offer.
DESCRIPTION
The Volunteer is a cosy hostelry with seating to the front and rear of the bar for some 30 covers, plus 6-8 people at the bar itself. The pub features a stripped wooden floor and feature fireplaces, as well as being eclectically decorated by the current landlord making the general atmosphere of the pub very welcoming and interesting. The pub has darts and rings teams.
To the rear of the pub are ladies´ and gents´ WC facilities and beneath is a substantial cellar and recently created small kitchen area as well as further storage in the basement.
Located on the First Floor, and can be separately accessed, is the 2-bed owners´ accommodation which has been extensively decorated by the current owners.
There is an outdoor yard to the rear, used for the storage of bins, deliveries etc. Please see floor plan for further details.
The Volunteer Inn has an interesting history that we are advised dates back to 1866 and is an Island "institution". It has also been the base for the infamous Ventnor Comic Jazz Band.
The current premises licence IW050900 allows for the sale of alcohol from 11am to midnight, 7 days per week, and live and recorded music from 7pm to 11.59pm Monday to Saturday, and 7pm to 10.30pm Sundays.
The Volunteer Inn is a very profitable business, currently averaging a gross profit of circa 52% of turnover. Accounts available to bona fide applicants following a viewing of the premises.
